As a graduating engineering student with a McCain Foods offer in hand, I was extremely apprehensive about leaving the comfort of an environment I was familiar with: school – to one I was not: the workplace. I need not have feared. My transition from the cocoon of university to the professional world was made seamless by McCain Foods. From the company securing me a place to stay, detailed guides on things to do, covering all costs related to the move, to the friendly faces that all seemed eager to welcome me, I quickly learned that at McCain Foods, the people come first!
As part of the rotational McCain Foods Production Management Training program, I currently work as a production supervisor at the Florenceville-Bristol potato manufacturing plant. Although it is an extremely fast-paced environment with its set of challenges, the people still come first. The company prioritizes safe, healthy working conditions and the protection of employees above all else. I take tremendous pride in seeing my employees return to their loved ones daily in the same shape they left. As we always say, nothing we do is worth getting hurt for. This leads to a positive environment in which we all own our safety and look out for each other: the people come first!
I am extremely thankful to McCain Foods for providing me with the support I needed as I transitioned from university to the workplace, and for trusting me with opportunities most young engineers would never have at a global company so early in their career.
The people come first!
