Employment Fraud Notice
We are noticing that there have been fraudulent schemes that have been initiated by individuals and/or organizations contacting people while falsely claiming to represent McCain Foods. The potential incidents could occur either virtually through websites, social media accounts, job posting sites, emails/texts, or via off-platform approaches like direct mails. The fraud aims to trick you into believing that you are contacted for an employment offer or invited to enter a business relationship by McCain Foods personnel, often with the purpose of illegally acquiring your personal information like a social insurance number, or banking details. In those incidents, McCain Foods name, brand elements, and company details are used without permission to establish false credibility and authenticity.
McCain Foods will never extend an employment offer without verbal communication prior or going through the proper application process first. We strongly recommend that you do not engage with or respond to any suspicious/fraudulent activities. If you believe you are the victim of any fraud, we advise you to contact local law enforcement immediately.
Here are a few warning signs to look out for:
- If you receive solicitations, recruiting/hiring documentation, advertisements, or emails that contain spelling and grammatical errors, or which are badly formatted.
- If you are contacted by an email address of which the domain is not affiliated with our company (for example, @hotmail.com, @hotmail.ca @yahoo.co.uk, @gmail.com, @live.com, @qq.com, etc.), or a domain that resemble the actual domains used by our company (for example, @mccainfoodshiring.com). Note that All McCain email domains are @mccain followed by specific regional acronyms (e.g., @mccain.com, @mccain.ca, @mccain.co.uk, @mccain.com.au, etc.)
- If you receive a request for personal information prior to an offer being made, such as passport information, social insurance number, or banking details.
- If there is an insistence on urgency for you to act on the correspondence received within unreasonably short time frames.
