Supporting the communities we work in.
With 3,500 farmer partners around the world, and nearly all of our facilities located in rural areas, we’re often the largest employer and an integral part of many communities. We are proud of the role we play in helping to create sustainable livelihoods for farmers and their families and contribute to an inclusive local economy, supported by local development programs, donations and volunteering.
As a business, we’re committed to contributing to the competitiveness and resilience of these communities, now and for generations to come.

Thriving Communities Spotlight.
Project Shakti.
Project Shakti is our flagship community program located near our Mehsana plant in Gujarat, India. Established in 2018, the program aims to drive social change and improve the livelihoods of women and girls. Delivered in partnership with the Cohesion Foundation Trust, the program stimulates entrepreneurship, and supports skills development and knowledge transfer. Training is also provided on women’s rights, health, and financial literacy. In 2023, two more villages participated in the program and an additional nine self-help groups were established. As a result, Project Shakti now operates in eight villages across the region, supporting a total of 73 self-help groups and bringing the total number of direct beneficiaries since 2018 to 1,011.
McCain in Action.
Our teams around the world are dedicated to giving back to the communities in which they live and work. During 2023 our teams globally collectively completed 17,384 hours of volunteering.
We are committed to continuing these efforts through 2024 and beyond.
Our Flagship Community Development Programs.
Our flagship community programs are our largest long-standing partnerships. In 2022, all four programs – Campo Vivo in Colombia, Sembrando Futuro in Argentina, and Shakti and Utthan, both in India – successfully navigated the impact of COVID-19 and maintained momentum.
Campo Vivo.
Campo Vivo is a social business in Colombia committed to alleviating rural poverty and improving quality of life for smallholder farmers through technical assistance, commercial support and training. https://campovivo.co/
Project Utthan.
A collaboration between McCain India and the BAIF Development Research Foundation, the program aims to improve agriculture production, soil and water conservation and overall quality of life for small-scale farmers and their families.
Sembrando Futuro.
Supporting young people from low-income families in the communities near our Balcarce plant in Argentina, it provides skills, training and professional guidance.
Project Shakti.
Project Shakti near our Mehsana plant in India, drives social change and improves the livelihoods of women through entrepreneurship, skills development and knowledge transfer.
